Boys Varsity Baseball · Ansonia Out-Hits Competition, Yet Twin Valley South Takes The Win


Ansonia baseball fell 7-4 to Twin Valley South on Saturday despite out-hitting them nine to five.

In the second inning, Ansonia got their offense started. Trevor Hemmerich drove in two when Hemmerich singled. After the Tigers scored one run in the top of the sixth, Twin Valley South answered with one of their own.

Twin Valley South pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Crews tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs and Miller singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Twin Valley South scored three runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Twin Valley South came thanks to singles by Crews and Gearhart.

Ulrich led the Twin Valley South to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Miller threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Connor Schmit took the loss for Ansonia. The pitcher went five innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out four. Burkett started the game for Twin Valley South. The hurler surrendered two runs on three hits over two innings, striking out three and walking one

Ansonia collected nine hits on the day. Keegan Weiss, Trevor Hemmerich, Schmit, and Ethan Hemmerich each managed multiple hits for the Tigers. Ethan Hemmerich, Schmit, Trevor Hemmerich, and Weiss each managed two hits to lead Ansonia.
